You will be joining us at an extremely exciting time, with significant regeneration and development taking place across our amazing county. The role represents a brilliant opportunity to work within a nationally recognised, high-performing council, in a large and diverse county.

We’re the largest council in the North-East region and are responsible for the region’s largest economy, and we’re looking for an innovative, forward-thinking and inspirational leader to help to continue to drive our exciting and ambitious agenda forward.

The role will report to me, as the Chief Executive, and will be a key member of the corporate leadership team of the Council. As part of a truly corporate senior team, you will lead an exciting, innovative and modern service across the following areas :

• Inclusive Growth and Partnerships;
• Housing and Planning;
• Culture, Sport and Tourism.

Collaborating with our wider council services and teams, you will engage with elected Members, and wider stakeholders. to shape the future vision and direction of the council. Relationships, track record and experience are essential, and you will have the skills and personal qualities to thrive in a fast paced, commercial and diverse environment.
